Care homes & nursing homes
The complete phone system for care homes. AI safeguarding built in.
Simple for staff, safer for residents, and peace of mind for families. TISA® runs the home’s own phones; GuardianSIM® gives every resident their own phone and number, with you deciding who can call and AI alerts when a call sounds wrong. One provider, one bill.
Residents keep their existing mobile number (moving it is free) or get a new one. An old home landline number can move across too. 999 and 112 always connect.
Why care homes change
Three problems, one phone system.
Residents are targets
Scam calls, rogue traders and people asking for money. Some residents cannot tell a fraudster from a friend.
Reception is a switchboard
Families ring the main number all day to reach one person, and staff stop what they are doing to pass calls on.
The lines are being switched off
Old copper phone lines stop on 31 January 2027. The home’s phones have to move anyway.
A day in the home
One resident, one day, six calls.
Margaret lives in Room 1. Here is what happens to her calls, with GuardianSIM® on her own phone.
| Time | The call | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 08:15 | Her daughter ringsOn her list | Rings straight through. No reception, no passing messages along a corridor. |
| 10:40 | “Your bank” callsUnknown number | In allow-list mode it is stopped in the network, so her phone never rings. They can leave a message, emailed to you written out. |
| 13:05 | An agency nurse callsNot on her list | Types the home’s PIN and is put through. Change the PIN for every resident at once when staff leave. |
| 15:30 | She dials a number from a letterA call out | Calls out go only to approved numbers, so a scammer’s “call us back” goes nowhere. Premium-rate numbers are always barred. |
| 17:20 | Someone asks her for moneySomeone she knows | With Protect Plus the recorded call is checked by AI, staff are alerted, and the number can be blocked in one tap. |
| 21:00 | She needs help999 | 999 and 112 always connect, whatever is set. Every change made today is in the activity log. |

Every resident’s phone, from one dashboard.
- Their own phone and number: works in most unlocked phones, including simple button phones, with nothing to install. Keep their existing mobile number (moving it is free) or get a new one.
- You choose who can call: in allow-list mode only approved family, friends and professionals get through, and calls out go only to approved numbers.
- A PIN for agency staff: visitors not on the list get through with a PIN. Set one PIN for every resident, and change it whenever someone leaves.
- Whole-home changes: add the GP surgery or your office to every resident in one go.
- Mood at a glance: with Protect Plus, a face for how each resident’s last call sounded, so staff know who might need a chat.
- An activity log: every change, by staff or family, with the time. Download it for a safeguarding file or an inspection.
- 999 and 112 always connect, whatever is set.

AI that listens out for harm.
- Scams: bank impersonation, “safe accounts”, rogue traders.
- Financial exploitation: someone they know asking for money or favours.
- Threats, sexual content and residents in distress.
- Watch words for each resident, and calls in other languages, translated before they are checked.
- Alert, or block straight away: chosen per resident, with one tap to undo. Alerts by email, and by text if you choose.
Calls are recorded with an announcement, written out and checked automatically, so staff listen before acting.

Peace of mind for families.
Invite relatives to help with their family member’s phone. You choose what each person can do, and can remove them at any time. Billing and settings stay with the home.
- See calls and voicemails.
- Help by adding a grandchild’s number or blocking a nuisance caller.
- Know straight away, with the same scam and safety alerts as the home.
- Listen to recordings, only where the resident’s agreement or the relative’s legal authority is recorded.
A reason for families to choose your home, and a service you can offer them.

Ready for your next inspection.
Every change to every resident’s phone, by your staff or a relative, written in plain English with the time and the device.
- “New PIN set for every resident”
- “Blocked 07700 900456 after a flagged call (Possible scam)”
- “Added Dr Patel, 01908 123456 (can call, both ways) to every resident”
Filter by resident and download it as a spreadsheet for a safeguarding file or a CQC inspection.

For the home · TISA® Cloud PBX
The home’s own phones, sorted.
One number, the right person
A digital receptionist sends families, agency staff and deliveries to the right team. Ring groups and queues, so there is no engaged tone.
Nights and weekends
Time-based and holiday routing sends calls to the on-call manager out of hours.
Phones on every floor
Cordless DECT handsets, desk phones, and the app on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. Three devices on one extension.
The home on a manager’s mobile
A Pocket Office SIM puts the home’s number on any mobile, with no app.
Recording and messages
Call recording on staff lines, voicemail to email, missed-call alerts, and texts to families from a recognisable Sender ID.
Controls for managers
Role-based logins, two-factor sign in and spend limits, per extension and across the home.
Moving over
Your numbers move on your date, not the network’s.
- A short demo: we show you the dashboard with our demo care home, on a video call at a time that suits you.
- A pilot: start with a few residents on GuardianSIM, with their family, GP and your office on their lists.
- Tell us what you have: numbers, handsets, and anything else on a phone line, such as alarms, lifts and door entry.
- We set up TISA: the main number, the receptionist, ring groups and out-of-hours routing, ready before the move.
- Residents’ phones: GuardianSIMs arrive ready to use. Add each resident’s family in the dashboard, or copy one list to many. Existing mobile numbers can move across.
- Go live: numbers switch over on the date you choose. We show your team the dashboard.

Questions
What care homes ask.
What is the care home phone system?
Two services from one UK provider. TISA Cloud PBX runs the home's own phones: the main number, the nurses' station, out-of-hours calls and staff mobiles. GuardianSIM gives every resident their own phone and number, with the home deciding who can call them and AI alerts for scams and distress. One account manager, one bill.
Do residents need smartphones?
No. GuardianSIM works in most unlocked phones, including simple button phones, with nothing to install. All the controls are in the home's dashboard and our network.
How are residents protected from scams?
In allow-list mode only approved family, friends and professionals can call a resident, and calls out go only to approved numbers, so a fraudster is stopped before the phone rings. With GuardianSIM Protect Plus, recorded calls are checked and staff are alerted to possible scams, financial exploitation, threats or a resident in distress. 999 and 112 always connect.
Can families be involved?
Yes. The home can invite relatives to help with their family member's phone and choose what each can do: see calls and voicemails, change who can call, get alerts, and listen to recordings only where the resident's agreement or the relative's legal authority is recorded.
What happens to our phone lines in the switch-off?
Old copper phone lines stop on 31 January 2027. We move the home's numbers to TISA Cloud PBX on a date you choose, so the phones never go quiet. Check alarms, lifts and door entry systems that use a phone line as well.
Can staff take the home's number on their own mobile?
Yes. A Pocket Office SIM puts the home's number on a manager's mobile with no app, so the on-call manager answers and calls as the home. The TISA app works on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac too.
Is call recording included?
Recording on the home's own lines is included on every TISA extension, kept for 30 days. Residents' calls are recorded only on GuardianSIM Protect Plus, set per resident, with an announcement and the resident's consent or legal basis recorded.
What is the mood of the last call?
With GuardianSIM Protect Plus, each recorded call is written out and checked, and the residents dashboard shows a face for how each resident's last call sounded. It is a quick prompt for staff to check in, written automatically, so it can be wrong.
Can we try it first?
Yes. Most homes start with a short demo, then a pilot with a few residents on GuardianSIM, before moving the whole home and its own lines to TISA. GuardianSIM is on a 30-day rolling plan.
Who is behind it?
