Confidential phone lines
A line people feel safe to call. Their number stays hidden, even from you.
Give staff, customers or the public a confidential number for whistleblowing, safeguarding concerns or tip-offs. The caller’s number never appears on your phones, in your call history or in any report.

How a call works
From the first ring to the report, nobody on your side sees who called.
- 1
They call your number
A national 03 or local number, dedicated to the line. Calls cost callers the same as any landline call.
- 2
They choose
A short menu: speak to someone, hear a web address for reporting online, or have the link sent by text.
- 3
You answer
Your phone shows “Private line”, never the caller’s number.
- 4
The call is logged
Your call history shows the time and how it was handled, with the caller marked private.
What your team sees
The call, never the caller.
- Phones and apps show “Private line” instead of a number, including calls forwarded to a mobile.
- Call history, reports and exports list every call with its time and outcome, and mark the caller as private.
- Alerts and notifications, missed call emails, app notifications and CRM pop-ups never carry the number.
- Calls are not recorded or transcribed, and recording cannot be switched back on while the line is confidential.
- Voicemails reach you with a written transcript, made on TISA’s own servers, and the caller shown as private.
- Texts you send to callers are listed in your log as sent to a private caller, without the number.
What TISA keeps, and why
Hidden from you is not the same as untraceable.
We are clear about this, because the people calling your line will rely on it.
- We keep caller details securely for up to 12 months, so we can investigate abuse of the line.
- We only disclose them when the law requires it, for example a lawful police request or a court order. Never to you, and never for any other reason.
- Only authorised TISA staff can look them up, and every look-up is recorded with who looked, when and why.
- Some records are outside our control. Telephone and mobile networks keep their own, and a text stays on the caller’s phone.
If your callers need to stay discreet, read out a web address on the line so they can report online without receiving a text.

Questions
What organisations ask before they set one up.
Is the caller anonymous?
Their number is hidden from you and your team, on every phone and in every report. It is not untraceable: TISA keeps it securely for up to 12 months, and telephone networks keep their own records. We only disclose a caller’s details when the law requires it, for example a lawful police request or a court order.
Can we find out who called if the line is abused?
Not yourselves. Tell us what happened and we will investigate. Only authorised TISA staff can look up a caller, and every look-up is recorded with who looked, when and why. Blocking a caller on a confidential line is also handled by TISA, so that blocking a number cannot be used to work out who called.
Can we record calls on a confidential line?
No. Calls on a confidential line are not recorded or transcribed. The only audio kept is a voicemail, if a caller chooses to leave one: you receive it with a written transcript, made on TISA’s own servers, and the caller shown as private.
Is it safe to text callers a link?
It works, but a text stays on the caller’s phone and passes through the mobile networks. For people who need to stay discreet, read out a web address on the line as well, so they can choose not to receive a text.
Where are calls and records kept?
Calls run on TISA’s UK platform, and call records are stored in the UK. Text messages are sent through our SMS platform and partner networks, which may process them in the UK or the EU.
Can we use a number we already have?
Yes. Your existing number can move to TISA, and the confidential settings apply from the day it arrives. See keep your number.
