The bail-out call
Bad date? Meeting that won't end? We'll ring your mobile at the time you pick, so you've got a reason to leave.
Opening in the next few days. Have a look around, and come back to book your first call.
Booked. We'll ring at .
The call comes from 07536 940354. Answer it, look worried, make your excuses.
How it works
- Confirm your mobile. We text you a code. That proves it's your phone, so nobody can send calls to anyone else.
- Pick who's calling and when. Anything from 5 minutes to 12 hours away.
- Answer and make your excuses. If anyone's listening, they'll hear a real voice with a real problem.
What they'll hear
Ordinary problems work best. Nobody questions a leaking boiler.
"Hi, it's me. Sorry to ring. The boiler's started leaking and there's water all over the kitchen floor. Can you come home? I don't know where the stopcock is."
"Hey, it's me. I've locked myself out and my phone's nearly dead. Is there any chance you can come back and let me in? Sorry, I know you're out."
"Hi, it's the babysitter. Nothing serious, but they've got a bit of a temperature and keep asking for you. Could you come home?"
"Hi, sorry to call you out of hours. The system's gone down and we need you to dial in now. Can you get to a laptop?"
"Hi, it's your neighbour. Your dog's been barking for over an hour and sounds really upset. Can you pop back and check on it?"
Fair use
- Free, with no account and no app.
- One bail-out a day, three a week, per number.
- UK mobile numbers only, on any network.
- We never call a number that hasn't confirmed its own code.
- Your number is deleted straight after the call, and never used for marketing.
Feeling unsafe?
This is for awkward moments, not danger. If you feel unsafe, call 999. In many UK bars you can ask staff for "Angela" and they'll help you leave quietly.
Questions
Is the bail-out call free?
Yes. There is no charge and no account. You confirm your mobile with a code we text you, and that is it.
Can I set up a call to someone else's phone?
No. We only ever call the number that typed in the code we texted, so nobody can use this to bother anyone else.
How many bail-out calls can I have?
One a day and three a week per mobile number. That keeps it free for everyone.
What will the other person hear?
If they are close enough to hear, they will hear an ordinary voice explaining a small problem at home or at work. It is a recording, so you just need to play along and say you have to go.
What number does the call come from?
Always 07536 940354. Save it in your contacts as Mum, Home or Work, whatever suits your story.
Can I cancel a call?
Yes, at any time up to a minute before. Open this page on the same phone and tap Cancel.
Which phones does it work with?
Any UK mobile number, on any network. You do not need to be with TISA.
Is this for emergencies?
No. It is for awkward moments, not danger. If you feel unsafe, call 999. In many UK bars you can also ask staff for "Angela" and they will help you leave.
Do you keep my number?
Only until your call is made, then it is deleted. We use it for the call and nothing else: no marketing, no newsletters, never shared or sold. To enforce the limits we keep a scrambled code that cannot be turned back into your number, and that goes after 7 days. Like any phone network, our systems keep basic call and text records for billing and legal reasons.
Do you record the call?
No. The call plays a recording to you, but nothing you say is recorded.
Asked for your number by the wrong person?
Give them ours instead. The Rejection Line lets them down gently.
