The Rejection Line
Asked for your number by someone you'd rather not hear from? Give them this one. When they ring, they'll find out. Kindly.
What they'll hear
A friendly voice, not a telling-off. Nobody needs a scene.
"Hello, and thanks for calling. Sorry, you've reached the Rejection Line. The person you're trying to reach wasn't interested in giving you their number, but didn't want to be rude, so they gave you this one instead. Please don't take it to heart. It happens to the best of us. The Rejection Line is a free service from TISA Mobile. Goodbye."
If they text or WhatsApp it
"Rejection Line here. The person who gave you this number didn't want to share theirs, but was too nice to say so. Chin up! TISA https://tisa.one/rejection-line"
How to use it
- Save it in your phone so you can read it out without thinking.
- Give it at the end of the night, not across the table.
- Say it like you mean it. It's a real UK mobile number.
- It answers calls, texts and WhatsApp.
- We don't record calls, keep a list of callers or use their numbers for marketing.
Feeling unsafe?
A joke number is for awkward moments, not danger. Tell the staff or call 999. In many UK bars you can ask for "Angela" and staff will help you leave quietly.
Questions
What is the Rejection Line?
A real UK mobile number you can give to someone when you would rather not give them yours. When they call, a recorded message lets them down gently.
Is it free?
Yes, for you. You just give the number out. Anyone calling it pays whatever their network charges for a normal call to a UK mobile, which is usually included in their minutes.
Do you keep the numbers of people who call?
No. We do not record calls, we do not keep a list of who called, and callers' numbers are never used for marketing or shared. Like any phone line, the network keeps basic call records for billing and legal reasons, and nothing else is done with them. Messages sent on WhatsApp are also handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
What if they text it or WhatsApp it?
They get an automatic reply saying the same thing, with a link back to this page. Nobody reads the messages, and the numbers are never used for marketing or shared.
Will they know straight away?
Only when they call, text or WhatsApp it. The number looks like any other UK mobile, so it is best given out at the end of the evening rather than across the table.
Is it the same number for everyone?
Yes. That is part of the joke. The more people use it, the more people get the message.
What if someone is making me feel unsafe?
Do not rely on a joke number. Tell the staff where you are or call 999. In many UK bars you can ask for "Angela" and staff will help you leave quietly.
